DIGITS LLC, a leader in Computer Forensics, employs Certified Computer Forensic Examiners to assist and perform incident response, acquisition, examination, preparation, and delivery of evidence to its growing and world-wide client base.


The Computer Forensic Examiner works in the forensic lab under the direct supervision of the Forensic Manager of Forensics to support the company's growing business. The correct candidate will possess knowledge, skills, and abilities to support the growing business and move the company into the future, be self motivated, have a desire to continuously learn, and energy to motivate the team to succeed.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Computer Forensic Examiner is responsible to:

  • conduct small simple to large complex examinations of digital media to identify and document relevant findings. Produce reports using defined forensic policy, practices, and procedures;
  • testify to examination process and findings;
  • work closely with project management and consulting personnel to determine best course of action to meet requirements;
  • support computer incident response;
  • handle evidence in accordance with company policy;
  • identify forensic requirements, research, test, analyze, and recommend solutions for management approval;
  • develop and implement standard operating procedures to implement company forensic policy, practices, and procedures, conduct forensic research and design solutions to forensic requirements;
  • acquire, collect, document, and preserve evidence from various forms of electronic media and equipment; and
  • perform quality assurance testing of deliverables

  • High quality of deliverables to include correction of defects and compliance with provided requirements
  • Expectations setting for the timing of deliverables


Timeliness of deliverables

  • Work with Manager of Forensics to ensure work orders are completed meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Field and respond to ad-hoc status inquires
  • Measuring and managing deadline compliance • Prioritization • Monitor workload, reporting progress to management
  • Set and follow priorities and procedures
Staffing
  • Work closely with other Computer Forensic Examiners and Technicians, Evidence Custodians, Manager of Forensics, and key Executive personnel
Process and Procedures
  • Follow, develop, and implement process and procedures in collaboration with management.
  • Responsible for measuring and reporting performance, time, expenses, and/or business metrics, as requested on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Ensure electronic evidence workflow process and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure quality work through proper Quality Assurance procedures.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None


KEY INTERACTIONS:

  • Closely working with Forensic Lab staff and management, program management, production & processing teams.
  • Key members of Executive Staff


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Forensics or Information Technology, or equivalent experience. BA/BS degree in Computer Forensics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Business with an IT emphasis preferred
  • 1-3 years of computer forensics experience
  • Certified Forensic Examiner certifications preferred. EnCE certification or eligibility to sit for and pass the exam within 1 year from the date of hire; CFCE and/or CCE certifications a plus.
  • Strong technical experience in troubleshooting personal computers and servers
  • An understanding of file system types and hard disk drive structures
  • An understanding of data collection & preservation principles
  • An understanding of networking concepts and experience in working with networked systems
  • Strong networking and TCP/IP skills are a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with standard computer forensic hardware/software, such as Solo-III, Logicube, Encase, FTK, XWays, SMART, Helix, Cellebrite and other related hardware and software to examine encrypted information, cellphones, and PDAs.
  • Knowledge and experience with personal computers and server hardware, to include RAID and networked drive storage systems, cell phones/Blackberries, networks, and Microsoft Windows, Unix-based, and Mac operating systems.
  • Possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and valid US passport or be willing to expeditiously obtain a passport.
  • Position is subject to initial and random drug testing.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Mature, courteous, organized, ability to follow documented procedures.

  • Balance multiple client projects and other responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively to all levels of engagement management


Additional Experience/Qualifications:

  • The ability to describe complex technical concepts and ideas to in non-technical terms
  • Law enforcement or prior investigative experience is a plus
  • Some business development or marketing skills or experience desired
  • A strong finance, accounting or economics background is not required, but it is very helpful
  • Must be flexible with work schedule and travel requirements of client service projects
  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Experience in a professional services firm preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is demanding, fast-paced, and deadline driven to support company clients typically under time constraints to produce evidence based on court-driven demands. Workday often extends beyond normal business hours. Shift work may also be required.

The physical demands of work are confined to interaction with computers and people, lifting up to 70 lbs without assistance.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT
The Computer Forensic Examiner will be expected to perform frequent, local, national, and international travel to support the company's mission. Travel is often with little or no advance notice, to single or multiple locations during the same trip, and on occasion with little time between travel engagements. Travel may be short duration, less than 24 hours, or longer requiring several contiguous weeks.
